"My Princess... SEE WHAT MATTERS MOST
I have so much to show you, My precious. I know you see the troubles of this world, and they sometimes overwhelm you. So come to Me, and I will take you to the mountaintop. I will open your spiritual eyes so that you may see an eternal view of what matters most. Keep your eyes on Me and in My Word, and you will see My hand at work in everything around you. Remember, My princess, the eyes of the world are on you, so show them who I am by keeping your eyes fixed on Me and My eternal plan for people.
Love,
Your King and Giver of Sight"
The above text is from a book that my friend Kate gave to me. The book is called "His Princess: Love Letters from Your King". The author is Sheri Rose Shepherd.
Who wants to go to a mountain top? I do!
I cherish memories of times that I have climbed mountains to spend time in solitude with our Heavenly King. There is one occasion that sticks out the most, the time in which I walked/jogged up an old logging road that switched backed up the east side of the Elkhorn Mountains. I reached a spot where the sun hit my skin just right and where I could see out for miles. The vehicles traveling to and fro, the irrigating sprinklers watering pasture, the birds and other critters fluttering all around me, the train passing through town, the semi-trucks zooming up and down the free-way, the pure mountain air and the dirt I sat in... and everything else that my senses were taking in... reminded me that each of us are so small in this gigantic universe. The vehicles especially, now looking so small in size, reminded me of how we are so often wrapped up in our own lives and the concerns of this world.
Then God reminded me that he loves all of us, despite how much I wrap myself up in the cares of this world and my own problems. He also reminded me that I am precious in His sight (kinda like the quoted words above reminded me). He also reminded me that Jesus knows what it is like to be constantly bombarded by the cares of this world...
A dear friend, Carol, just called. She is fighting the tough and treacherous battle that is breast cancer.
She described the process of losing her hair. And she praised God for having no nausea as of yet. She called to ask how she can be of help for our church potluck tomorrow. She also asked about a loved one that is fighting their own battle. I can't help but assume that Carol is able to have mountain top experiences with our Loving Heavenly Savior, despite the trips she now endures for cancer treatment. Despite the hair loss, weakness and fatigue.... her sight is on our King.
"So we don't look at the troubles we have right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever." 2 Corinthians 4:18
The lesson? Take the time (at least every once in a while) to have a mountaintop moment with God. Allow Him to put/keep things in perspective for you.
